AGENTS AND DETECTIVES UNRAVEL DRUG MANUFACTURING OPERATION
(Cocoa, FL)—Detectives and agents with the Cocoa Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division seized several pounds of illegal drugs along with the weapons and ammunition used to secure a drug manufacturing operation. The seizure was the result of a compliance sweep with officers from the Florida Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Cocoa Office.
On August 19, 2022, the detectives, agents, and probation officers conducted compliance checks for offenders currently on probation to ensure they were not violating the conditions of their probation by engaging in criminal activity. These offenders are known or suspected gang members and/or associates currently under supervision through DOC Probation and Parole. During a check on 26-year-old Jontavius Deontray Ables, probation officers alerted detectives and agents of the suspected presence of illegal narcotics at the home, which is on Edinburgh Dr. Cocoa Police detectives secured a search warrant based on the information provided by probation officers. A subsequent search of the residence and vehicles on the property yielded a variety of suspected narcotics, one firearm and a large safe. Jontavius Deontray Ables was arrested on scene for violation of his probation. There were several other known or suspected gang members and/or associates at the location during the search warrant.
On August 24th, detectives and agents followed up with the execution of a second search warrant for the contents of the safe that was seized. The following items were located during the search of the residence, vehicles on the property and within the safe:
