[ARCHIVED] Officer Johnson and K9 Copper Write Children's Book

Officer Cierra Johnson and K9 Copper reading

Officer Cierra Johnson and her K9 partner Copper have released a brand new children's book, 'K9 Copper - Who's a Good Boy?'. This unique idea is a way for kids in the Cocoa community to get to know Copper and Johnson better. The book, which was written by Officer Johnson, introduces K9 Copper and talks about all of the things he does as part of the Police Department's Community Engagement Unit for the Cocoa community.

Officer Johnson will be bringing the books with her when she visits our local schools and will hand them out to our local Cocoa students. She will also be donating a few copies for each of the schools to include in their library. The public will have the opportunity to purchase the books with proceeds benefiting the Cocoa Police Foundation.

The books will be released at the Paw-o-Graph party on Friday, July 21st beginning at 6pm in Riverfront Park. This Dog Days of Summer event will feature a paw-o-graph session with Copper (a rare opportunity to have Copper autograph your copy of the book), balloon art by Magic Dove Magic Shop, photos with Copper, and a FREE movie in the park on the big outdoor screen featuring 'The Fox and the Hound 2' starting at 8pm.

K9 Copper is an American Black and Tan Coonhound that was donated to the City of Cocoa in 2017. K9 Copper is a registered therapy dog and is also trained to track missing people. In 2018, Copper received the award for K9 excellence from the American Kennel Club. Copper is currently assigned as a partner to Officer Cierra Johnson and they are part of the Cocoa Police Department's Community Engagement Unit. In this unit, Copper serves the community by giving lots of love to those who need it the most and continuing the Department's many outreach and engagement efforts.
