The City of Cocoa Police Department recently received a $17,020 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to purchase four Interceptor electric bicycles. This critical equipment will allow our first responders to be better prepared in emergency situations and protect the citizens of Cocoa in a more visible and efficient manner.
“On behalf of the City of Cocoa and its residents, I want to thank the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs in Rockledge,” said Cocoa Mayor Michael C. Blake. “We are incredibly humbled to receive this vital equipment to continue to keep Cocoa residents safe.”
The new electric bicycles will provide the Cocoa Police Department with a more efficient way to provide public safety services to the Cocoa community. The bicycles allow officers to provide faster response during events and more populated areas of the city where vehicles may hinder access. The bicycles also allow officers to provide a more visible presence in populated areas such as Cocoa Village and the Diamond Square community. When minutes count, having the right tools in the right hands makes all the difference.
