Cocoa Utilities Supports the Mission of the Brevard Discovery Garden

The Brevard Discovery Garden (BDG) mission is to promote an increased appreciation of our Central Florida environment. The Garden seeks to inspire, support, and educate the community about horticulture through UF/IFAS research-based demonstrations, collections, and displays. The BDG is being developed by Master Gardener volunteers using a combination of Native, Keystone, and Florida Friendly plants. The Garden will demonstrate the use of horticultural best practices incorporating beneficial plants to enhance residential landscapes while improving the environment.

The Garden will be open to visitors on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month beginning October 5, 2022, from 9 am to 11 am. On BDG Visitor Days people will be able to stroll through the various demonstration areas including a Pollinator Garden, Herb Garden, Rain/Swale Garden, Bromeliad Garden, Florida Native Garden, Coastal Garden, Royal Poinciana Shade Garden, and the Orchard.  Master Gardener Volunteers will be actively working in the Garden on BDG Visitor Days and available to answer visitor's gardening questions.

Volunteers needed

BDG is looking for volunteers to help with garden and nursery maintenance, plant propagation, irrigation and other repairs. If you like to "play in the dirt" and want to learn more about gardening, then volunteering at Brevard Discovery Garden is a great way to give back to your community. To become a BDG Volunteer, contact the Brevard County Extension Office at 321-633-1702, Extension 2.  Brevard Discovery Garden is located at 3695 Lake Drive, Cocoa, FL 32926.
