[ARCHIVED] Dredging and Restoration of Boat Ramps at Lee Wenner Park to Start February 28th

Lee Wenner Park Closures

Beginning Monday, February 28, 2022 the boat ramps, Captain Ed Lanni T-Dock, day slips and boat parking at Lee Wenner Park will be closed for approximately 90 days for the boat ramp dredging and restoration project. This project, which was funded through grants from the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND), will dredge the boat ramps to allow for larger vessels to access the basin.

The FIND grants valued at over $500,000 included a match from the City of Cocoa in partnership with the Cocoa Community Redevelopment Agency. The project includes restoration of the boat ramps including new aluminum finger piers and dredging of the entire basin to include areas near the Captain Ed Lanni T-Dock and near the boat ramps. Currently the basin is about 5 and ½ to 6 feet deep and this project will bring areas of the basin to about 7 feet deep. This will allow larger vessels such as Intracoastal Cruisers to access portions of the waterfront at Lee Wenner Park and enjoy Historic Cocoa Village.

Public boat ramps to access the Indian River Lagoon while Lee Wenner Park is closed are available to the north of Cocoa in Port St. John and to the south of Cocoa near Pineda Causeway. Vehicle parking areas will still be available and accessible.
