Replacement of Lift Station 1 Near Indian River Lagoon

Posted on July 7, 2022 at 12:56 PM by Rachel Horst

Lift Station 1 is located just feet from the Indian River Lagoon with finished elevations well below the lagoon and flood surface, serving approximately 700 customers. During Hurricanes Matthew and Irma, influent flooded the dry well which housed electronics, pumps and associated equipment required for normal operations. This lift station does not have a generator and during relief efforts a portable generator has to be parked on the street to provide power.

This project includes demolition and replacement of the station with a submersible pumping system incorporated in the wet well, which will eliminate the need for confined space entry and improve worker safety as the pumps will be accessible via a slide rail system. The scope also includes the addition of an emergency generator.

The design for this project was completed in May 2021 and construction began earlier this year with a scheduled completion date this summer. The total budget for this project is $768,016.
