Every year the cities of Cocoa and Rockledge team up to collect food and toiletry items for the Central Brevard Sharing Center in Cocoa. The local nonprofit agency provides emergency
assistance to those in our community who are struggling to obtain life’s most basic needs and has been doing so for the last 41 years. With a total of three locations and seven programs, this organization has grown from what it once was in 1978. In Cocoa, Merritt Island, and Melbourne,
the Central Brevard Sharing Center has made this amazing organization available to everyone of Central Brevard.
Offering programs such as: The Children’s Bag Pack Feeding Program, which provides well balanced meals to school aged children in need; Community Kitchen, which provides a hot lunch to anyone Monday through Saturday and a bagged lunch on Sunday; Clothing and
Household essentials to individual families in need; Emergency Food Pantry, which provides over 8 tons of food to households monthly; Cold Night Shelter for when the temperature drops to 45 degrees or below they open their doors to the homeless and provide a warm place to
stay for the night; Sneaker Program, which is connected through their annual The City of Cocoa is once again hosting the annual Cocoa Job Fair Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 9a-12p at the Cocoa Civic Center.
This event is being sponsored by the City of Cocoa and CareerSource Brevard to showcase job opportunities available for residents. The event is free for all job seekers who are encouraged to bring their resume and dress in business professional attire. to receive donated shoes for the upcoming school year; and lastly they provide a Veteran Counseling Program for those who served for our freedom.
With the Central Brevard’s Sharing Center’s selfless acts of kindness, many volunteers and over 20 staff members, they’re making a change in the community one person at a time. About
45,478 meals have been served through their Community Kitchen Program and over 12,146 people have received Emergency Food parcels all within the last year.
This year’s City of Cocoa and City of Rockledge food drive will be held beginning in November and last through December 13, 2019. The City of Cocoa will be collecting non-perishable food
products and hygiene products at all City facilities. Stop by to make your donation and help this great organization help our community.
