Bobbi’s at Parkside
Bobbi and Brad Whitmore have been all over the world in their positions at Delta Air Lines, but their relocation to the City of Cocoa is a rather unconventional story. Northwest Airlines, now Delta, began flights to Beijing and Shanghai in 1996 when the tourism market opened; it was here Bobbi fell in love with the Chinese pearl markets, sparking her interest in the sale of these precious gems. In 1996, Bobbi made her first jewelry sale to a client who had just chartered the couple’s fishing boat. This evolved into at home trunk shows and eventually the opening of her first storefront on the second floor of the Masonic building in Downtown Historic Cocoa Village, appropriately named CocoVee. In 2012, CocoVee moved downstairs to their previous location in Myrt Tharpe Square where Bobbi added clothing to the store’s merchandise. When the renovation of 4 Harrison began, Bobbi knew her business needed to be there. Though all the space was committed at the time, Bobbi kept an open dialogue with the site’s developer and was delighted when she found out the perfect space came available. Bobbi’s at Parkside, renamed and rebranded for the new location, opened on February 7, just in time for the first Cocoa Village Sip & Stroll event of 2015.
Though she’s been called an ‘accidental entrepreneur’, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree; Bobbi’s father owned a business selling cowboy boots in South Dakota where she grew up. Look closely when you visit the store, as his pictures can be found carefully sprinkled around the displays paying homage to his memory. Moving forward, Bobbi will continue to refine the store’s offerings based on customer input, with the intention of always keeping the prices affordable. Bobbi’s at Parkside supports philanthropy in every sense of the word. From donations to charity events, educating the community to participation in community fundraisers, the Bobbi’s at Parkside team have made it their mission to help those in need.
Before moving to Cocoa, Bobbi and Brad visited cities from Miami to Tampa in search of the perfect downtown area to call home. Cocoa Village beat out all the rest and has proved to be the ideal location for this couple to live, play and explore entrepreneurialism.
