COCOA UTILITIES DEPARTMENT LIFT STATION 1 REPLACEMENT
NOTICE OF UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY

Lift Station 1 is located at the south end of Riverside Drive near the Cocoa/Rockledge city line, just feet from the Indian River Lagoon. The lift station serves approximately 700 customers. During Hurricanes Matthew and Irma, influent flooded the dry well which housed electronics, pumps and associated equipment required for normal operations. This lift station does not have a generator and during relief efforts a portable generator has to be parked on the street to provide power. This project includes demolition and replacement of the station with a submersible pumping system incorporated in the wet well which will eliminate the need for confined space entry and improve worker safety as the pumps will be accessible via slide rail system. The scope also includes the addition of an emergency generator.

This project will increase reliability of the sewer system and protect the environment for decades to come.

*Anticipated project schedule:
1. Mobilization anticipated to start on October 1, 2022
2. Final Completion anticipated February 2023.

• Intermittent lane closures of the northbound lane of Riverside Drive will occur during construction work hours.
• You may see trucks, construction workers, heavy equipment, and supplies such as pipes in the work area.
