Officer Joseph E. Truex, Jr.

Officer Truex has worked for the department for over twenty years -- he was hired on January 5, 1979. Over the course of his years of service he has received 46 letters of commendation from citizens, supervisors, and other agencies!

Community Involvement

Joe is assigned to the Community Oriented Policing Unit, but he puts in many extra hours working with the Police Athletic League and speaking to groups of young people in many different venues.

Dependable Team Member

During 1997, Joe was instrumental in apprehending perpetrators in two different bank robbery cases. He also participated in two Bicycle Rodeos, spoke to many groups, including the Boy Scouts and the Brevard Community College Day Care, and volunteered countless hours to the Cocoa Police Athletic League. Joe has also been accepted by the courts as an expert witness in the area of Traffic Homicide Investigations.

Joe is a rock-solid, dependable officer, and serves as a great representative for the officers of the Cocoa Police Department. Congratulations to Officer Joseph E. Truex, Jr.!
