Supplemental Water Source
Four ponds provide treatment of storm water runoff from approximately 1,800 acres of land in Cocoa. The storm water ponds connect to the reclaimed water pond so that storm water may also be used as a supplemental source.
Surpassing Demand
When demand exceeds supply, treatment plant operators open a transfer line to allow storm water to flow into the reclaimed water storage pond. The storm water pond have a usable volume of 7.2 million gallons.
Environmental Benefits
The ability to transfer storm water to the reclaimed water storage pond also provides ecological benefits by decreasing fresh water flows and nutrient loading into the Indian River Lagoon.
